The French Oceanic Tuna Company offers onboard jobs in the following positions:<\/small><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Boss (Captain)<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t
    \n
  • Responsible for the operation of the vessel, the crew, and its safety.<\/li>\n
  • Responsible for the fishing strategy.<\/li>\n
  • The shipowner appoints the Captain and, in agreement with him, assembles his crew.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
    Second captain<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t
      \n
    • Responsible for sonar monitoring at the start of fishing operations.<\/li>\n
    • Operates the mast and winch controls when turning the net.<\/li>\n
    • Monitors with binoculars during the search phase.<\/li>\n
    • Administrative management of the crew.<\/li>\n
    • Monitoring of buoys.<\/li>\n
    • Management of administrative formalities.<\/li>\n
    • QHSE manager on board.<\/li>\n
    • Manages the on-board infirmary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
      Lieutenant<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t

      • Watch duty during research phase.<\/li>\n
      • Under the responsibility of the Boatswain:\n

        • Maintenance of fishing equipment.<\/li>\n
        • On deck during fishing operations.<\/li>\n
        • Performs various maneuvers when the seine is launched.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
          Boatswain<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t
            \n
          • Responsible for the seine and deck equipment.<\/li>\n
          • Maintenance of fishing equipment and deck equipment.<\/li>\n
          • Manages deck operations.<\/li>\n
          • Coordinates fishing operations.<\/li>\n
          • Responsible for the deck crew.<\/li>\n
          • Keeps watch with binoculars during the search phase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
            Chief repairer<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t
              \n
            • Watching binoculars during the search phase.<\/li>\n
            • Second to the Boatswain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
              Chief Mechanic<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t

              • Responsible for the Machinery team.<\/li>\n
              • Orders machinery equipment and monitors inventory in conjunction with Armament.<\/li>\n
              • Enters data into the maintenance software.<\/li>\n
              • Works on board safety in conjunction with the First Mate.<\/li>\n
              • Prepares end-of-trip reports and informs the technical department.<\/li>\n
              • Prepares work lists for technical shutdowns in agreement with the ship’s technical manager.<\/li>\n
              • Keeps the ship’s technical documentation up to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
                Second engineer<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t

                Under the responsibility of the chief engineer:<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Supplies (diesel fuel, oil, consumables).<\/li>\n
                • Operation of main and auxiliary engines.<\/li>\n
                • Organizes the engine room watch for non-AUT vessels and the engine room team’s work schedule.<\/li>\n
                • Responsible for tenders (skiffs, dinghies).<\/li>\n
                • Informs the chief engineer of equipment entering and leaving the ship’s stock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t\t
                  Third engineer\/refrigeration engineer<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n\t\t

                  Under the responsibility of the chief engineer:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • Responsible for the onboard refrigeration unit and air conditioning.<\/li>\n
                  • Responsible for the proper loading of fish.<\/li>\n
                  • Responsible for the proper preservation of fish.<\/li>\n
                  • Enters data into the fish preservation tracking software.<\/li>\n
                  • Unloading of the catch.<\/li>\n
                  • Monitoring of onboard electrical equipment (panels, batteries, lighting, charger, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\t\t \t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
