Founded in the Gulf of Guinea in the 1950s and established in the Indian Ocean in the 1980s, CFTO combines expertise, innovation, and responsibility to ensure sustainable and controlled fishing practices.
Excellence and Sustainability at the Heart of Tuna Fishing
For more than 50 years, CFTO, the European leader in tuna fishing, has been innovating in collaboration with French scientists to optimize techniques and explore new fishing areas.
Operating in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, CFTO uses state-of-the-art freezer tuna seiners, ensuring sustainable and transparent fishing practices.
Today, CFTO, which mainly targets yellowfin and skipjack tuna, is expanding its expertise with the management of external fleets.
The fleet
CFTO operates around ten tuna vessels flying the French flag and also manages vessels flying European and international flags, applying the same standards of quality and sustainability.

A new activity: Ship Management
Building on its globally recognized expertise in tropical tuna fishing, CFTO took a new step forward in 2025 by offering ship management services to other shipping companies and flags. This first in the fishing industry allows CFTO to put its know-how at the service of international partners, guaranteeing the same standards of operational excellence, safety, and sustainability.
CFTO currently manages a fleet of five tuna seiners and one support vessel on behalf of two Omani fishing companies:
- RAWANQ AL SALAM INTERNATIONAL LLC: FV HAWWA, FV NOUR, FV LAYLA
- AL Wusta Fisheries Industries (AWF): FV ADAMAS, FV ACILA
